Shabazz Palaces, the first-ever hip-hop group signed to indie label Sub Pop, is a Seattle collective whose sound bears traces of early 90s, poetic hip hop–not surprising considering lyricist Ishmael Butler’s first group was Digable Planets. They’re opening for My Morning Jacket on the Williamsburg Waterfront next month, but this Tuesday, you can see them live, for free (or a $2 suggested donation), in Fort Greene Park with THEESatisfaction and Daniel Givens. FoodFreaks, Saucy By Nature, Woolys Ice, and Cookie Fairy Sweets will be supplying the delicious snacks. Arrive by 6pm to stake out a spot of green.
