Summer concert season is rapidly coming to an end–my local fave, Celebrate Brooklyn, has already wrapped for the season. What’s a Brooklynite to do? Pretend it’s not already halfway through August with the DUMBO Summer Friday, taking place under the arch in DUMBO. Cosponsored by tech- and music-loving groups like L Magazine, Northside, and the O Music Awards, the daylong party features on-trend bands like Prince Rama and Javelin, a DJ set from the so-hot-right-now Silent Drape Runners (fresh off that crazy awesome Robyn party last weekend), a sound installation, and app demos from the local start-up scene. As if that weren’t enough to pique my music/nerd interest, the Brooklyn Flea’s sending along some of their vendors to feed the hungry masses. All in all, it’s definitely a way superior alternative to sitting at my desk and beta testing all day long. –C.A.
