I have a weakness for advice columns, so I first came across the great San Francisco-based blog The Rumpus by way of its beloved Dear Sugar column. Soon enough, though, I was reading the rest of the posts regularly and, like so many others, feeling much more on top of contemporary literature. I’m sure I’m not the only one excited to hear that this week, editor Stephen Eliot is on the East Coast—at Public Assembly, specifically—to host a special event called The Rumpus Loves New York! The evening will feature readings from authors Sam Lipsyte, Nick Flynn, Amber Tamblyn, Andrew McCarthy, and Colson Whitehead, as well as comedy from Nato Green and Jeaninie Brito and live music from K. Flay. The best part? A ticket is only five bucks. –K.H.
