Nautical Newtown

By

The North Brooklyn Boat Club, a volunteer boating organization committed to connecting Brooklyn with its waterways, is celebrating the end of an amazing summer of kayaking and environmental education with its first annual Rock the Pulaski Benefit Concert this Thursday.  Anyone who is at all interested in Brooklyn boating, which I wrote about here earlier this summer, should cozy up to the North Brooklyn Boat Club because it will eventually be housed in the game-changing Greenpoint Boathouse that is currently under construction. In the interim, the club calls the Broadway Stages Boatyard on Newtown Creek home. Wednesday’s event promises games, drinks, food, and live performances by The Hungry March Band, Red Bedlam, Free Advice, The Alex Mallet Band, and The Time Travelers. Proceeds from the $5 cover go to benefit the club’s programs, and the festivities kick off at 6pm. –K.H.
