What to Drink (and Eat) at Brooklyn Pour

By

The second annual Brooklyn Pour comes to One Hanson Place this Saturday, giving beer nerds the chance to taste more than 100 different craft brews from Brooklyn, New York State, and beyond. Just to make sure we didn’t end up drinking all 100 beers, we asked Brooklyn Pour event director Rosemary Jorda what not to miss.

What beers are you most excited to taste at this year’s Brooklyn Pour?

The Bronx Brewery’s Rye Pale Ale. I haven’t been able to sample this new local brewer’s beer yet and I’m excited to try their newest offering. Since their beer is brewed in limited batches, it makes it more exciting to try. This ale mixes a little spice with some floral tones so should be tasty!
Local Kingston NY’s Keegan Ales is bringing their Black Eye P.A.. Love the name (EYE-P-A) and this I.P.A. has a chocolatey malty flavor, also brewed in limited supply.
Lastly, local brewer Doc’s Draft Hard Cider in New York State is bringing their pumpkin cider, which is apple-based but fermented with local New York State pumpkins and ginger. I have’t had a pumpkin cider yet so I’m curious to taste the different between that and a pumpkin beer.

What can you offer serious beer snobs who think they have already tasted everything?

We are super excited to be featuring Brooklyn Brewery’s special brew THE DEFENDER, which they created just for New York Comic Con. This is a limited-edition-only IPA and they are going to be sharing it with all our Brooklyn Pour guests.
Sounds like we’re gonna need some food to soak all that up. Watcha got?

Lucky 777 Chili is bringing their famous chili dogs. Stable House will be serving a variety of tacos–including lobster and vegan ones. Chez Lola is bringing their salmon sliders and some crepes. Der Schwarze Kolner, a Ft. Greene local, will serve their trademark pretzels and sausage.
