If there’s one thing that this increasingly-chilly weather is good for, it’s finding an excuse to eat comfort food all the time. This Sunday, take advantage of the fact that it’s not yet so cold that you’ll be eating soup on your own at home, and make a meal out of two cooking contests taking place in North Brooklyn. For your entree, head to Huckleberry Bar as they host the third annual Mac-Off, a competition searching for the best mac and cheese; $10 ($15 at the door) gets you the chance to eat your way through the cheesy carb-filled competitors, and entering is free. Then, for dessert, pop over to Enid’s, where they’ll be hosting their tenth annual apple pie contest. They promise celeb judges and, for the most flawlessly executed pies, prizes from the Brooklyn Kitchen and (one of BB’s favorite cafés) Troost. After all that pastry- and pasta-based eating, you should be ready to hibernate through the next few months.
