Some Greenmarkets to Reopen Thursday

By

We just got an email from GrowNYC Greenmarkets saying that some markets will be open tomorrow. Here’s the page they’ve set up to track the status of all their markets over the next few days. After all that storm comfort food it might be nice to walk a ways, get some fresh vegetables and have a salad instead of mac and cheese or beef stew. Here are the details they sent along:

GrowNYC’s Greenmarkets have been closed due to Hurricane Sandy since Monday. Tomorrow, a limited schedule of markets will re-open in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

“We’ve been in touch with our producers across the region, who with limited exception, are reporting minimal damage,” said Michael Hurwitz, director of GrowNYC’s Greenmarket program. “After the city reached out with such generous support for them in the wake of Irene, they’re looking forward to returning to markets tomorrow to serve customers and help their downstate neighbors get back to their normal routines.”
