I think we can all agree that Thanksgiving is the best holiday for eating, so why not double up this year and supplement your regularly scheduled Turkey Day feast with a preliminary round of all your favorite dishes at The Farm on Adderley this Tuesday. American Cookery: A Culinary History of Thanksgiving will not only get your tastebuds primed for the day-long eating affair with your family, but it will also give you the opportunity to learn about the foods you are eating and why they earned a place at every American’s Thanksgiving table. Sarah Lohman, an historic gastronomist and educator at the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, will be on hand to explain how items like gravy, green bean casserole, and pumpkin pie ended up on the menu (as well as give diners an idea of what the original recipes for these traditional favorites looked like). Dinner starts at 7:30 and is $60 per person, and you should sign up by emailing thefarmonadderleyevents@gmail.com.
