Visit a Visionary at VERNACULAR

By

Live in this town long enough and you might begin to think of it less as a sprawling and unpredictable metropolis, and more as an open book— just coded in a language only those truly worthy of its secrets can understand.  Brooklyn-based based artist Sharilyn Neidhardt explores this locally-cultivated intuition with her latest work VERNACULAR, occurring one night only at BAC (enter here to win a Brooklyn Art Lovers package from the local arts organization). Neidhardt will be providing divination (with 20 years experience as a practicing medium to draw on) using a deck of cards she’s personally designed, which, unlike the traditional tarot, employs only photographs of words from signage found all over the city. The performance/readings will focus on the psyches of attendees who seek the wisdom of the cards, especially on as they pertain to your creative destiny, so it’s a great mid-winter excursion for anyone artistic in your life. Once you’ve had your reading, stick around and delve into Abby Goodman’s The Wishing Tree, a lovely ongoing exhibition, and tie a holiday wish of your own on its branches.
