A Merry, Morbid Holiday to You!

By

If after searching and sifting through every pop-up, craft table, bazaar stall and brick-and-mortar this borough has to offer, you still haven’t found that one offbeat thing you’ve been looking for, then we have one final stop to suggest: the Morbid Anatomy Library and Observatory Holiday Fair. With all iterations of the weird and wonderful on-hand for purchase, including insect shadowboxes, anatomical throw pillows, and probably the most diverse range of taxidermy animals available anywhere in the city (there’s anthropomorphic mice, y’all!), it’s a free two-day merchandized fête of everything  that embraces the morbid, the merry and the magical this holiday season. Music and suds from sponsor Brooklyn Brewery will set the mood as you peruse items made by Morbid Anatomy and Observatory’s teaching artists and honored guests, with the exclusive added bonus of photos, books, and artifacts right off their shelves. It’s worth attending if only to see these items in person, but we’re betting once you lay eyes on that stuffed badger, there’s no way you won’t be able to bring him home and make him your very own.
