What Me, Gentrifier?

By

In the film My Brooklyn, director Kelly Anderson delves into her own life a Brooklyn resident whose downtown neighborhood is rapidly changing before her. The documentary, which won the Brooklyn Film Festival Audience Award, pays specific attention to the redevelopment of Fulton Mall, and beginning this Friday through January 10, reRun Theater is screening My Brooklyn twice nightly. Special guests will discuss the film and its implications at each 7:30pm screening, and the first discussion this Friday features M.I.T. Historian Craig Wilder in conversation with Anderson about Downtown Brooklyn’s redevelopment within the context of the corporations and politics that encourage gentrification. Tickets are $10 for each screening.
