It’s a cliché at this point to talk about Brooklyn’s food obsession, but it means that we are the epicenter for events like this weekend’s Food Book Fair, a three-day celebration of over 200 books making a splash in the food world, as well as the scene’s most compelling figures, spread out in various locations in Williamsburg. Most of the full day passes are sold out, but you can buy tickets to individual events for $20-$45 here. Highlights with available slots include a coffee crawl, featuring stops at Williamsburg’s premiere coffee destinations; a meat discussion and tasting led by Fleischer’s Jessica Applestone; and cooking demos by Japanese cuisine expert Hiroko Shimbo and by Bon Appetit editor Adam Rapoport, who has a summer grilling cookbook coming out soon. Tickets are also still available for Thursday’s Opening Night Tasting Event at Brooklyn Winery, which will feature seasonal bites from an impressive roster of chefs and food writers and will benefit post-Sandy rebuilding efforts in the Rockaways.
