Even the most hardened of carnivores can appreciate a good vegan spread—like Dan Delaney, for instance, brisket man about town and one of the celebrity judges at The Skint’s Vegan Cook-Off: Hors D’oeuvres Competition at The Bell House. Given the creative ways to transform soy into faux meat and dairy, and the fact that a lot of light fare is as cruelty-free as it gets (guacamole and salsa, anyone?) this is the kind of cook-off that will be as fun to judge as it will be to nosh at. Tickets are $12 in advance (recommended, as the last vegan cook-off sold out), and $15 at the door. And if you happen to have an outstanding seafood-less sushi roll or no-pig-in-a-blanket recipe up your sleeve, there’s still time to compete for prizes and glory.
