Monkey Town Returns (to Chelsea)

By

One of my biggest, only-in-New-York regrets is never having the chance to check out Monkey Town during its most recent, four-year stretch in Williamsburg. With crazy-smart themed nights like 2009’s Ski Lodge Dinner, which featured ski docs, alpine music and a twist on an apres-ski menu, the venue served as one of the most creative spots in town bringing together film and food. This summer, Monkey Town makes a surprise return to the city after three years of being absent, hosting a pop-up at Eyebeam in Chelsea. Attendees will be seated inside a floating cube and surrounded by a primarily multichannel film and video program; different guest chefs will be curating the menu for each night, including Max Sussman (formerly of Roberta’s) and Josh Cross (ex-Gramercy Tavern). Tix are $80 and already  going fast, so get them today; reservations for June 13-July 11 are on sale now, and tickets for July 13-August 11 became available online today as of midnight. –CA
