Plymouth Church will partake in the national celebration of the end of slavery in America known as Juneteenth this Sunday at 7pm. The church, located at 57 Orange St., played a big part in the abolitionist movement and was a home base for social reformer Henry Ward Beecher back in the day. This year’s celebration includes music from Naomi Shelton and the Gospel Queens, as well as a performance by The Welcome Wagon (Rev. Thomas Vito Aiuto of the holy hipster sanctuary, Resurrection Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg, and his wife Monique, who, in fitting Brooklyn form, fuse gospel music and indie pop).
