A Red Hot American Tradition

Who needs to be as American as apple pie when you can be as American as a Nathan’s Hot Dog instead? Considering it’s now a nationally televised event with a larger audience than some professional sports franchises, we think you know where we’re headed–to the corner of Surf and Stillwell, for the Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest! Since 1916, the brave, the bold and the hungry have fought through the ranks to eat or be eaten in what is undoubtedly the most famous competitive eating competition in America. This year Joey Chestnut (six time consecutive male champion) is gunning to set a new world record. Get there early to ensure prime spots, then plan a day around any of Coney Island’s array of attractions to ensure that you’re still there for the fireworks, which are set to go off at 9pm. Enjoy with relish!
