A Reading on the Waterfront

Last summer five of Brooklyn’s most beloved independent bookstores decided to band together and curate an outdoor reading series on the Granite Prospect steps of Brooklyn Bridge Park. Each shop took turns organizing a sunset reading, Q&A and book signing with authors including Amor Towles, Martin Amis and Patti Smith in its first year. Books Beneath the Bridge just entered its second season, and continues tonight at 7pm with Greenlight presenting poetry readings by Sharon Olds, winner of the Pulitzer Prize in Poetry, and Edward Hirsch, who taught us How to Read a Poem: And Fall in Love with PoetryFurther readings will take place every Monday evening between now and Aug. 12; the full lineup is here.
