An opportunity to stroll the grounds of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is worth every penny of admission, but being able to spend an afternoon chilling in its Cherry Esplanade or catching up on some summer reading by the pond in its Japanese garden for free every Tuesday is even better. To me, a trip to BBG never gets old, but if you think you’ve seen all the flora the garden has to offer, you’ll be happy to know that in the past two years, and in the next to come, it will be unveiling new gardens and opening new areas of the grounds to the public. It’s already started with a new visitor center last year and an expansion to its Native Flora Garden, its oldest specialty garden, which opened this spring. So stop in and smell the flowers why don’t you? –JG
