The most spectacular settings for summer movies are city parks and rooftops, but the opening of Steinberg Screen at BAM’s Harvey Theater has made watching movies indoors magical again. Brooklyn’s largest indoor screen, hung before the stage of the Harvey’s artfully dilapidated theater, is just a temporary thing–BAM will roll it up Sept. 5 and go back to hosting performances there until next summer. In the meantime the pop-up movie palace is screening Blue Jasmine, and watching Cate Blanchett as a Ruth Madoff-like figure who loses all her money, and all her marbles, is even more remarkable in a majestic theater. It’s screening there through Aug. 22 with three showtimes on Sunday.
