The U.S. Open starts next week at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, Queens. Tickets to the main event start at $35 and go on up into the thousands for the best seats during the biggest matches. This week though, the U.S. Open Qualifying Tournament is on, and it’s free. The tournament consists of 128 men and 128 women, competing for 32 slots (16 women, 16 men) in the U.S. Open. Basically, these are rising tennis stars, vying for a spot in one of the sport’s biggest competitions. You can waltz on in and take a seat for free every day this week, but Friday is an especially great day to go and watch the final matches–you may just see the next Venus or Serena in action.
