It’s time again for one of my favorite traditions, the Annual Autumnal Oystershuck & Cask Event at Bierkraft. As far as my ideal way to spend a day goes, it is pretty tough to beat sitting at a picnic table on a fall Saturday in Brooklyn drinking beers and taking down an impossible amount of oysters. This year there will be four casks from local New York and New Jersey breweries, four Franconian gravity casks of German beer (fancy!) and a whole mess of delicious, briny oysters available for purchase by the plateful. The whole shebang starts at noon and goes all day until supplies run out, but it’s cash only so you will want to hit the ATM en route and arrive early enough to snag a seat in the outdoor area. And if oysters give you the willies, Bierkraft will also be serving up its usual sandwich menu (with free Zapp’s chips on the side), so you won’t have to go hungry. –K.H.
