Performance artist Suzanne Lacy, who once put 150 teenagers and 100 police officers on a roof in downtown Oakland for a public performance, is applying her provocative social practice to the stoops of Brownstone Brooklyn on Saturday (in case you missed The New York Times preview). Specifically, the stoops along Park Place between Underhill and Vanderbilt Avenues in Prospect Heights, where, at precisely 4:30pm, she will commence a performance involving hundreds of women and a few men, some from organizations like the Lower Eastside Girls Club and the Arab-American Family Support Center. Together they will “engage in unscripted conversations about a variety of issues related to gender politics today,” according to Creative Time, the presenter of the performance along with the Brooklyn Museum. We are all invited to wander from stoop to stoop and listen in; just arrive by 4pm for optimal eavesdropping, and enter from the Vanderbilt Avenue side of the block.
