What’s more classic New York than spending Sunday afternoon at the matinee? Possibly spending it at a matinee of a classic play by William Shakespeare during the opening weekend at the Theatre for a New Audience. After 34 years of roaming, the classical theater company finally has a permanent home in Fort Greene, and it’s opening its brand new space with A Midsummer Night’s Dream, directed by Julie Taymor, who you might remember won a Tony for directing a little ol’ musical called The Lion King. Tickets to see Simba and his pride are still ridiculously expensive, but you can see Taymor’s amazing work up close on a new stage this Sunday for significantly less. Tickets start at $53.
