This one goes out to all the fellas. Despite taking place in Manhattan, the annual New York City Beard and Mustache competition is one contest that sounds tailor-made for the men of Brooklyn. It is also an excuse to put down your shavers for the next few weeks, if the 30-degree weather we’ve been waking up to wasn’t incentive enough. The competition is taking place on Dec. 7 at Irving Plaza with all the proceeds going to the Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue. Despite its title, the competition isn’t a big boy’s club–there are 11 different facial hair categories to compete in, including a Fake Realistic category for women, with trophies being awarded to the top three finalists in each. A raffle of everything from taxidermy animals to facial hair products ensures everyone, including clean-shaven spectators, has a chance to walk away a winner. This year’s judges include barber Michael Haar, drag queen extraordinaire Azraea Demands Equality, 2013 Beardsman of the Year Travis Oliver, lead singer of SIT and Die Mike McMahon. You already know you want to go, so why not save yourself some cash and purchase your advanced tickets at a discount today for $15.
