‘Tis the season of cramming in culture, with everyone compiling year-end commandments of the best books, music, movies, and art. I find it almost impossible not to read these lists, either to figure out what I’ve missed, or hopefully pat myself on the back for catching all that’s been deemed great. So when New York Mag art critic Jerry Saltz tweeted the best art shows of the year, I clicked, and found that his number one pick was the group show, “Come Together: Surviving Sandy, Year 1,” curated by The Brooklyn Rail’s Phong Bui. The fact that it’s in Industry City has definitely deterred me from visiting, but fortunately it’s open four more days, Thursday through this Sunday, 12-6pm, plenty of time to take in this mega exhibition of over 200 local artists who created work inspired by the storm, or participated in the spirit of solidarity.–N.D.
