What are you doing this week? Learning something new.

Upcycle Your Old T-shirts into Something Cool; Ditmas Park; $25; Saturday, Jan. 18, 3pm
Got some old t-shirts laying around? You know you do–it’s actually kind of impossible not to amass a considerable t-shirt heap in this day and age. Take them to Brooklyn ARTery in Ditmas Park on Saturday and recast them as a tank top, blanket, potholder, dog toy or any number of other, cooler options than an unworn t-shirt.

Wine Basics: Chilean Wine Class; Soho; $60; Thursday, Jan. 16, 6:30pm
Learn about the wine regions of Chile, and the grape varietals that make Chilean wines so distinctive at Puro Wine in Soho. There will be plenty of tasting to accompany the lesson, and you’ll get 10% off all wines covered in the class, so you can go home and share your new-found appreciation for South American vino.

Medical Botany; New York Botanical Garden; $295; starts Saturday, Jan. 25.; six sessions from 2-4pm
It doesn’t begin until Jan. 25, but this medical botany class at New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx looks so cool you’ll want to plan your mid-winter Saturdays around it. Get a full introduction to herbalism and how to cultivate and process plants for medicinal use and general wellness.
