Feb. 6: (Fort Greene) Tickets are now on sale to hear John Legend smooth serenade all the ordinary people at BAM’s Howard Gilman Opera House on May 31.

Feb. 9: (Fort Greene) Frank Langella’s reign as King Lear comes to an end at BAM today.

Feb. 11: (Fort Greene) North Brooklyn fragrance company Nomaterra is teaming up with Thistle & Clover this week to throw a perfume party. Head to the subterranean boutique on Dekalb Avenue from 6-8:30pm to smell some of the niche perfumers signature vegan scents and soy candles, and possibly pick up an early Valentine for yourself.

Feb. 11: (Dumbo) Rachel Kushner’s recent novel, The Flamethrowers, was just nominated for a National Book Award. She’ll be at powerHouse Arena this evening in discussion with James Wood of The New Yorker and signing copies of the book, the story of a young woman who moves to NYC in the ’70s with designs on being an artists and finds herself ensnared by the city’s Warholian art world.
