In the past year, Reynard at the Wythe Hotel has invited guest chefs from renowned restaurants in Paris, Argentina and Martha’s Vineyard to prepare multi-course, wine-paired meals with chef Sean Rembold as part of its special Dinner with Friends series. These dinners always require reservations and some breathing room on your credit card, but tonight’s visit from Oakland’s Ramen Shop is walk-in only from 6pm till midnight, and just $17. The California noodle bar is the creation of three Chez Panisse alums, and their pop-up menu at Reynard, featuring wild mushrooms, nettles, and butternut squash in the Meyer lemon shoyu ramen, and a smoked black cod miso ramen with Mendocino nori, lives up to their mission of serving “artistic, organic, and sustainable ramen.” Sour beer (which pairs well with miso ramen), $12 cocktails and San Francisco’s Four Barrel coffee will all be flowing, and Bay Area-born, Brooklyn-based DJ Alex Pasternak will be spinning tunes as you slurp away the cold wave.
