Wanting to keep its visitors “well-informed–and well-fed,” as Linda Johnson, president of Brooklyn Public Library, put it last week, BPL has invited local pie shop Four & Twenty Blackbirds to open a cafe inside its central branch. Starting in March the new eatery will serve up slices of Melissa and Emily Elsen’s favorite pie-flavor combos, Stumptown coffee, sandwiches and more as part of its full menu, which the sisters collaborated with fellow sibling chefs, John and Mike Poiarkoff, currently in the kitchens at The Pines and Vinegar Hill House, to create. The cafe is already serving coffee and snacks, should you need something to tide you over until the salted caramel apple and malted chocolate pecan pies arrive.
