The weather is finally cooperating and that means it’s time to pry yourself away from the Netflix and get out and about again so you can remember why it is that you pay a small fortune in rent to live here. The warmer temps arrive just when one of our favorite commercial stretches in Brooklyn—Cortelyou Road in Ditmas Park—has organized a weeklong dining and shopping extravaganza called Eat & Shop Your Heart Out Cortelyou. Starting on Monday, April 7, and running through April 13, the area’s myriad restaurants, boutiques and watering holes will be offering great deals, prix fixe dinners, a self-guided bar crawl, and an intriguingly-named Cortelyou Sandwich Spectacular. The awesome small business-per-block ratio in this neighborhood is one of the highest around, and stalwarts like the Farm on Adderly, Purple Yam, the Castello Plan, Mimi’s Hummus, Sycamore Bar, and the Flatbush Food Coop will all be offering discounted food, drinks, and merchandise.
