My Margarita Master List

By

margaritaIn celebration of Cinco de Mayo, here are my favorite places to grab a margarita in Brooklyn. For a $5 margarita with a lot of flavor, head to Los Pollitos III on the corner of Ryerson St. and Myrtle Ave in Clinton Hill. The deal is good from 11:30am to 7pm every day. Despite its sweet drink special, however, Los Pollitos III isn’t the most authentic Mexican spot you’ll find (the restaurant doubles as a pizzeria and the cultural/culinary cross pollination can be a bit confusing). For authenticity, head to Pedro’s on Jay Street in Dumbo. This bar/restaurant boasts the best margarita this side of the Rio Grande, and I’m inclined to agree. For frozen margaritas, head to Habana Outpost in Fort Greene. I’m not typically a fan of anything that gets dispensed from a slushie machine, but Habana’s frozen margs are on point and perfect for a hot day posted up at one of its picnic tables. My hands-down favorite margarita in BK is the Bitter Margarita from Walter’s in Fort Greene–its pucker power comes from Campari. Whether you choose to check out one of these spots or stop for a salt-rimmed cocktail somewhere else, make sure to find some way to celebrate this Monday. –JG
