A Self-Guided Art Stroll

By

The South of the Navy Yard Artists (SONYA) Stroll is celebrating its 15th anniversary this weekend with a name change. Now called the SONYA Art Walk, this two-day event still offers a chance to appreciate local art by means of a free, self-guided tour of fine-art studios and galleries surrounding the Brooklyn Navy Yard from Bed-Stuy to Fort Greene. In addition to checking out exhibitions from over 60 artists, plan to spend some time in the area, especially on Saturday, as the Brooklyn Flea is back to its regular outdoor digs on Lafayette between Clermont and Vanderbilt and several stoop sales will also be taking place throughout the area, including a block-wide one being organized on Carlton between Willoughby and Dekalb. The art walk starts at noon and runs to 6pm rain or shine, offering plenty of time to refuel at one of the new, nearby restaurants we rounded up recently.
