It’s Memorial Day on May 26, and while most of your time will be spent either barbecuing or at the beach (or barbecuing at the beach), consider taking some time out to celebrate our veterans at the 147th annual Brooklyn Memorial Day Parade. The parade starts at 11am on the corner of 87th Street and Third Avenue in Bay Ridge and winds its way around to John Paul Jones Park for a memorial service that includes a wreath laying, flag raising, playing of taps and a 21-gun-salute by soldiers from the U.S. Army Fort Hamilton Garrison. Started in 1867, the Brooklyn Memorial Day Parade is one of the oldest in the country. All veterans are invited to march and more information can be found here.
