How is it already almost August? For some reason or another, I have managed to make it to the final weeks of the summer without doing so many of the things that usually fill up my schedule this time of year. I haven’t been to a single free outdoor movie screening, I missed the Philharmonic in the Park, and so far I’ve only been to one Celebrate Brooklyn! show, which is definitely a personal low. On Friday night, whistling violinist Andrew Bird and his glockenspiel will return to the bandshell stage to reprise the indie songwriter’s season-opening performance in the summer of 2011. This time, he’ll be joined by bassist and singer Esperanza Spalding, who herself performed in Prospect Park in 2015. The show is free to attend and starts at 7:30pm.
