Because you can finally turn your oven on without causing heatstroke

This is definitely not the first time I’ve raved on this site about the cookbooks of Yotam Ottolenghi, but I’m pretty much obsessed with everything about them–from the exquisite photography to the easy-to-follow recipes to the utterly delicious Israeli-inspired dishes featuring fresh, seasonal ingredients. On Wednesday, Ottolenghi and his pastry chef pal Helen Goh will be appearing in conversation with the New York Times’ Melissa Clark at the Berkeley Carroll School to promote their latest title, Sweet. If you love to bake, I have a feeling you’ll want this cookbook–which has recipes for treats like cinnamon pavlova with praline cream and fresh figs and flourless chocolate layer cake with coffee, walnut, and rosewater–in your collection. Tickets are $35, which covers admission to the 7:30pm event and your own copy of the book to bring home.
