A jack-o-lantern jamboree

By

I will confess here that I am an adult who counts Halloween as my most favorite holiday, and the fact that I have never been to the storied Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze in Sleepy Hollow, New York, despite living here for basically my whole life, is just not acceptable to me any longer. Every year, it occurs to me to make a plan to go up there, but I almost immediately table it and then the damn thing sells out within a week or two. Not this time, friends–this dumpster fire of a year needs something positive in it and for me that is going to involve a trip to Westchester to marvel at displays of pumpkin-carving mastery, complete with synchronized sound and lighting. Of course the show is sold out every weekend day through Halloween, but there are still tickets available for the 8:30pm and 9pm on Wednesday, as well as a smattering of other weeknights too. Adult tickets are $22 each, and it’s an easy train ride from Grand Central if you don’t have access to a car.
