Fans of local history and booze can scratch both itches this Saturday at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, where BLDG 92 and Kings County Distillery are teaming up for a Whiskey Wars tour and tasting from 4:30-6pm. You can learn all about the illegal moonshiners who operated out of Vinegar Hill in the 19th century, the Marines that were dispatched to conduct violent raids in the area, and the current resurgence of the industry on the premises, led by Kings County Distillery. Tickets are $20 and include whiskey and moonshine! On Sunday, learn how to make a Thanksgiving dessert that will definitely be the talk of the gathering. Change things up this year and bring a pumpkin pie cake, which involves cheesecake, candied pumpkin seeds, and pumpkin ganache. You can learn how to make this delicious confection in just two hours on Sunday at Momofuku Milk Bar Williamsburg. Tickets are $95 and you’ll take your own 6-inch cake home with you.
