Shop till you drop at the Brooklyn Holiday Bazaar

By

One major perk of living in a place like Brooklyn is that it is so easy to stay far from the madding Black Friday crowd (literally) and instead do your holiday shopping locally, which is an infinitely more pleasant experience that allows you to support your creative neighbors and buy thoughtful presents instead of a bunch of crap. A great place to start is the annual Brooklyn Holiday Bazaar, which is back this weekend in its biggest iteration yet at 501 Union and The Green Building in Gowanus. There will be delicious food and drinks to try, live DJ sets, kid-friendly activities and, of course, the opportunity to peruse wares from dozens of the area’s most talented weavers, jewelers, woodworkers, potters, and crafters (like Still Alive Lights, who make this color-changing elephant lamp that is going directly onto my Christmas list). The bazaar is on from 11am-6pm on both days, and admission is free.
