Don Hertzfeldt’s short, animated science fiction film World of Tomorrow was nominated for an Oscar back in 2015. In it, a young girl named Emily comes to face to face with her clone from hundreds of years in the future, and together they travel through time. It’s a super wacky, super fascinating little film that was actually inspired by audio recordings of Hertzfeldt’s four-year-old niece, and it’s currently streaming on Netflix for those that haven’t seen it.
On Tuesday at IFC, Hertzfeldt will screen World of Tomorrow Episode Two: The Burden of Other People’s Thoughts alongside the original at three separate showtimes, including a post- screening discussion. It’s an excellent opportunity to get up and close with a bit of science fiction that may put your entire life into perspective.
Screenings are at 6:30, 8:15, and 9:55. More info can be found here.
