Skip brunch, tour a cemetery

By

When it comes to cemeteries in Brooklyn, Green-wood tends to steal all the spotlight. But maybe you’ve driven by a rather large cemetery on the outskirts of Greenpoint that you didn’t even know was there, and have always remained curious. Or maybe just you really love cemeteries. Either way, the folks over at Atlas Obscura Society have put together a great Sunday afternoon tour of 300-year-old Calvary Cemetery. Newtown Creek historian Mitch Waxman will weave the group across grave sites of mafioso’s, fallen solders, and even an heir to the throne of Ireland. Tickets are $25 and the tour starts at 11 am.
