Start your weekend off right on Saturday morning with an hour-long yoga and mindfulness meditation session held in the Brooklyn Museum’s Beaux-Arts Court, followed by a self-guided tour of a curated collection of contemplative objects in the museum’s galleries. The program runs from 9-11am and tickets are only $10, which includes general admission.
When you’re good and enlightened, mosey on over to Greenpoint for the annual Bust Craftacular, an amazing juried indie market featuring 150+ vendors, which is at the Brooklyn Expo Center from 11am-7pm both days this weekend. This year, in addition to the holiday shopportunities, DIY activities, and delicious food and drinks that you’ve come to know and love, the Craftacular will also be offering a day-long music fest and an array of classes and talks from the Bust School for Creative Living. On Saturday at 1pm, author/feminist/funny person Lindy West will be participating in a panel discussion on storytelling as activism, which seems pretty apropos in the middle of the #metoo movement, and tickets are $10.
You could also recreate what was a very enjoyable Saturday for me last week, involving a trip the Brooklyn Flea’s winter digs in Industry City (as well as the Renegade Craft Fair one flight below), followed by an afternoon of beers with friends in the inviting tasting room at nearby Five Boroughs Brewery.
