Hip-Hop Androids in Bushwick

By

I’m still pretty upset with myself for getting shut out of last month’s well-reviewed run of Cute Activist at The Bushwick Starr, so I’m determined to get tickets to the theater’s newest production, which opens this week, before they sell out. The Brobot Johnson Experience is a solo multimedia theater piece by Darian Dauchan that is definitely the only sci-fi hip-hop origin story being staged in NYC this season. The performance draws from Dauchan’s existing hip- hop album and sci-fi web series, and features live looped vocals, rhyming, and beatboxing, as well as a future race of peaceful androids called The Tribe Called Space Quest. Obviously, this is something you’ve got to see for yourself, which you can do at 8pm on Thursday for just $20 a ticket.
