Looking to unwind with some live music on Friday night? If indie throwback jams are your thing, Yo La Tengo is playing a show at Brooklyn Steel at 8pm, and tickets are just $35. I haven’t seen those guys since the early aughts, which in my opinion is a damn shame. They have a new album out right now (There’s a Riot Going On), but I’m guessing they’ll play a selection of their old stuff too. If you’re more in the mood to laugh, head to Books are Magic!, where the ever-hilarious and kinda raunchy Samantha Irby will be discussing the paperback release of her wildly popular essay collection, Meaty, with Abbi Jacobsen. The event is free but you should rsvp here, and it starts at 7:30pm.
