A Malian music festival at Brooklyn Bowl

By

You are likely tired of hearing that Nigerian pysch rock song Atomic Bomb by now, yes? Expand your appreciation of West African music, and explore the traditions of Mali this weekend at Brooklyn Bowl, during the three-day World Music Institute Festival of Mali. The Sunday, April 15 program is beautiful and mellow, with the xylophone-heavy Trio Da Kali, who recently recorded an album with Kronos Quartet, and South African classical guitarist, Derek Gripper, reinterpreting traditional kora music on the acoustic guitar. The Sunday ticket is $20; a three-night pass is $56.25.
