Brazilian signer/songwriter Tom Zé last performed in NYC when he was 80, and his particular blend of Tropicália and wit seemed to go off without a hitch at BAM. Now, one year later, he’s performing at Pioneer Works Tuesday, April 17, and really, how much different could this show be? Together with a sharp backing band, expect a blend of styles, from bossa nova to funk, and more than a few sly asides in Portugeuese. Bone up on the albums that made him a legend, including the ones David Byrne reissued. Tickets are $35 and since this is a Tuesday night, it’s a perfect opportunity to score some smoked brisket without the wait at Hometown.
