Even if you’re leaving town this weekend (lucky you!), you may want to consider sticking around an extra night to catch the sunset on NYC’s best island. Starting Memorial Day weekend, Governors Island will be open till 10pm on Friday nights through September 21, so you don’t have to race to get there or back. Ditch work, board a ferry (which only leaves from Lower Manhattan on Fridays, 7:30pm is the last one there, and 10pm is the last one back), get drinks at Oyster Island, and kick back in Hammock Grove on what will be the sunniest day of the three-day weekend.
