Where to catch the fireworks in Brooklyn this year

By

Celebrating Independence Day in New York City this year? The East River is calling your name then. This year, the 25-minute firework show put on by Macy’s will be featured best at North Brooklyn hotspots like East River State Park, Transmitter Park, and the newly minted Domino Park. The fireworks start at around 9:25, but needless to say, get there crazy early to ensure a spot. (You could also spend an obscene amount of money for front-row seats on or beside Greenpoint’s Brooklyn Barge, or the rooftop of The William Vale.)

Coney Island is always a fun (albeit crowded) destination for festivities: catch the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on the corner of Surf and Stillwell, ride the Soarin’ Eagle, and finish out your day with their 9:30 pm fireworks show on the beach. Perfection.

And, nope, the parties don’t stop on July 4…even though most of us have to go to work the next day. Swing by House of Yes for “hot meat, dirty dancing, and delicious chillness.” (Their poetry, not ours.) The party goes from 2pm to 12am, and it’ll be flowing with slushies, hot tubs, and BBQ fumes. For a more backyard BBQ feel, Nowadays provides the perfect backdrop, with DJ collective Working Women starting at noon and a local fireworks show, too.

Happy Fourth, all!
