Shortly before the 9/11 attacks, internet artist Wolfgang Staehle set up webcams to livestream snapshots of lower Manhattan for an installation meant to show the predictability of early 21st century life — only to unexpectedly capture a tragedy. See it on Tuesday, Sept. 11, when the Brooklyn Historical Society and the 9/11 Memorial & Museum come together to host a day of reflection. Visitors can stop by the society’s Brooklyn Heights building from 8:30am to 7pm for a free screening of Staehle’s time-lapse video piece “2001,” which shows the World Trade Center attacks unfolding in real time. Following the viewing, a panel between 7 and 9pm featuring longtime NY1 anchor Pat Kiernan will discuss how the city and world have changed in the aftermath of the historic event.
