An oyster shucking and tasting class on Friday

By

We are officially in a month with an “R,” so if you buy into the old adage about when it’s safe to eat raw oysters, you’ve got a good 8 months newly stretched ahead of you. Celebrate this fact Friday night, Sept. 14, at the first of several oyster shucking and tasting classes taking place this fall at Greenpoint Fish & Lobster Co.’s LIC market. The classes are hands-on and informative, and you’ll learn what affect an oyster’s flavor, how they are grown, and how to safely shuck them to take advantage of the freshest ones available. Most importantly, you will get to eat a ton of them, as well as other light snacks, paired with complimentary wine and beer. Tickets are $75, and the class starts at 8pm.
