Photoville, a whiskey tour, and David Byrne are vying for your eyes and ears Saturday

By

Dumbo’s awesome and eminently Instagrammable annual freight container photography exhibition, Photoville, is back this week for its 7th edition. The installations are up now through September 23, but this Saturday from noon-10pm is as good a time as any to check out this extraordinary (and free to the public!) display of the work of more than 600 artists, as well as a variety of day and nighttime programming. Be sure to visit the Lit List container exhibit, featuring photographers of color and other marginalized working artists. Afterward, head to the Brooklyn Navy Yard for a Whiskey Wars Tour and Tasting at Kings County Distillery from 4:30-6:30pm. I’ve been on this tour, and it is a pretty fascinating dive into the illegal whiskey trade of the 1800s, as well as the evolution of the art of distilling through the present day. Tickets are $20, which includes a free tasting at the conclusion of the tour. If, after all that, you’ve still got some energy, take a ride out to Forest Hill Stadium to catch the legendary David Byrne and opening act Tune-Yards live in concert at Forest Hills Stadium at 7pm; tickets can still be had starting at $65.
